Mexico 2011 | Day 4

Alright, let's get into this! So It was tuesday, another painting day, woo hoo! I was so scared to go painting again because I seriously felt like complete death on monday, but here I went. Thing's I kept reminding myself were one, that this is helping the kids at Bethel go to school at Kino, which is a super good school, and 2, we were serving a lot of other people in the town, and the employees at the school.

A team left earlier in the morning to start painting the outside wall. Once I got there, I got to paint outside at first which was really nice because I was out in the fresh air, and away from the paint fumes. After that wall was finished I was doing pretty good! Gianna and I were painting in one room with a fan blowing on us, and it was pretty nice! We talked and were actually having fun painting this one wall.

Then, they sent me to another room to paint. A lot more people were in there, and there wasn't a fan in sight. We're all painting, and the paint fumes were SO strong, I was coughing up a storm. Then we got to take breaks because Wendy brought us all poptarts. It was then that I started getting a headache and felt really light headed, so I sat down and felt really awful. I ended up laying down on Benita's legs and falling asleep. I didn't sleep for too long because I heard one of the leaders yelling, so I got up and decided to help finish painting so we could head back to Bethel, which ended up being a bad idea. Gianna, Veronica, and I went into a room that was almost done, and the paint fumes were so strong in there it was unbelievable, a few people left that room cause they got a little loopy from all of the fumes, hahaha. We were trying to finish the room and so many people told us we needed to get out, but there was only a little left, so we kept going, another bad idea. We were only in there for 10 minutes and we all walked out coughing so so much, it was crazy. I was dead, this day was worse then the day before by far! I was completely out of it, so I hopped on Benita's back and she took me to my van, she's a good friend.

When we go back to the orphanage, Dulce wasn’t out so I decided to lie down. A few minutes later Benita burst into the room telling me Alberto got hit in the head with a rock and Dulce ran to her room crying. I felt SO bad for not being out there. I asked Magali to get her for me, so she did. Dulce came out and ran into my arms. I asked her if she was okay, and she rested her head on me and hugged me tighter. Poor girl, I love her so much.

I stayed outside with Dulce, and the other kids who were telling me "Taylor Swift es fayo" because I had a Taylor Swift shirt on. They are so silly, I love them to death. Then on this day my group went to the Blind Center! It was so cool to see this project that was being talked about last year when we went! A lot of people went there from our church, and others to build the blind center! It was such an awesome place! I loved it so much, and can't wait to go back next year! I bought a picture frame and key chain there from the craft table with all the crafts made by the blind people, cuties!

We headed back to the orphanage and played with the kids until dinner and village ministry. It was a fun time being with the kids and stuff! (Side story. I broke my camera because I accidently threw it across the room. But Benita had an extra!)Village ministry was AWESOME! There were so many little kiddos there and God really gave me some boldness tonight to talk to people and play with kids, I was so out of my comfort zone, it was amazing <3
